The RBI Hawks staff has been spending the last few months recruiting players for the 17U College Prospect Team and in the last few weeks have had over 10 contracts signed. Most players on this team are 2012 graduates with a few 2013’s sprinkled in. Check out what players have committed to the Hawks for the 2011 season!
Rhett Wiseman, CF, Buckingham Brown & Nichols Class of 2012 – Rhett is a 5-tool player who bursted onto the New England baseball scene with an outstanding sophomore season at BB&N as a left-handed leadoff hitter and center fielder. He has verbally committed to Vanderbilt University.
Dan Cellucci, SS, Lincoln-Sudbury High School Class of 2012 – Cellucci comes to the Hawks from Lincoln-Sudbury High School which has quickly become one of the top high school programs in the region under Coach Kirk Fredericks. Dan’s ability to play both ways has earned him some heavy recruiting looks from a plethora of Division I schools including UConn and Florida State.
John Nicklas, RHP/OF, St. Sebastian’s Class of 2012 – John is one of the more polished pitchers in the area with two seasons of varsity level baseball in the ISL under his belt. The right-handed pitcher is looking at schools in the Ivy League as well as the ACC.
Bryan Rocha, C, Dighton-Rehoboth High School Class of 2012 – Bryan is an extremely athletic catcher with great footwork and a quick release from behind the plate. Rocha is also coming off of a great season as the running back on the football team who as of this post’s date was leading MIAA Division 3 in scoring with 122 points including 20 TD’s. Bryan is looking to play at the Division I level with UConn on his radar.
Jordan Picini, RHP/MIF, North Attleboro High School Class of 2012 – This past June Jordan was named “Top Underclassman” at the Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout at Tufts University in Medford. Picini has a lean, athletic build with above average arm strength (84-86mph) and good pop in his bat from the right side.
Adam Benvie, 3B, Dighton-Rehoboth High School Class of 2012 – A 2010 South Coast League All-Star, Benvie is an agile third baseman with soft-hands which is a rare combination considering his size & power. The left-handed power hitter is a threat to drive the ball to all parts of the field at any given time.
Tyler Buck, LHP/OF, Franklin High School Class of 2012 – Buck played for the Hawks 17U team last year as a 15U player and had great success both on the mound and at the plate. Tyler also fared very well at the RBI Summer Prospect Showcase in June 2010 at Stonehill College. As a left-hander, Buck has great tail on his fastball with a big-breaking curve and above average change-up to boot.
Ryan Olmo, OF, Attleboro High School Class of 2012 – Ryan has been on the Attleboro High Varsity squad since freshman year. In his sophomore year he was named to the Old Colony League All-Star team as an outfielder. Olmo is the type of player who never stops hustling and his coaches and teammates see him as a leader which is why he was named as a team captain for the 2011 season as a junior.
Austin Decarr, MIF, Xaverian Brothers High School Class of 2013 – Austin is a very athletic player who can play the middle infield as well as pitch. At the plate, Decarr has quick hands with good power to his pull side. A quarterback on his football team, Austin is a solid overall athlete with great potential both in the field, on the mound, and at the plate.
Nick Ahearn, UTIL, Xaverian Brothers High School Class of 2012 – Nick is a versatile ballplayer having seen 6 positions in 2010 season. Hits from the left side, throws right and will provide added pitching to the Hawks rotation and bullpen. Although mostly a corner infielder, Nick has also played a fair amount in the outfield. Athletic with a plus arm Nick brings a lot of energy and leadership to the ballfield.
The Hawks Staff looks to continue recruiting the best athletes around to join our program for the 2011 season not only at the 17U College Prospect level but our 13U, 14U, 15U, and 16U teams as well.
